In a Billy Joel State of mind
Where's the fire, what's the hurry about?
You better cool it off before you burn it out
You got so much to do and only
So many hours in a day
That you can get what you want
Or you can just get old"
English:
You know the feeling when you take a look at your To-do-list and you simply can’t wait to get started.
It is a restlessness that arises when life moves just a little bit too slow and you get indescribable urge to stand behind it and give it a nudge or a hard push. Because you have so much you want to do and so many places to visit.
It is a feeling of intensive restlessness that either leads to an extreme case of carpal tunnel from constantly drumming your fingers on the table, cause you can’t sit still. Or you decide to do something else while waiting for that email from your next prospective employer. Like for example going to the gym, booking another coffee date with my girlfriends, a dinner date here, one drink there, reading the latest book on the toplist, starting to write a book, two columns that get to sit and wait for the right forum for publication…
So here I am, just finished a late night espresso. One blog entry published. Five drafts on hold. Fifteen job applications sent and three freshly written waiting to be sent first thing tomorrow. Two job assignments in the works for a magazine. A start up company’s webpage to write for and my very own website to work on. Twenty pages fighting for space in my computer.
There is probably more than one reason why I have fallen head over heals for New York. The hectic lifestyle sort of doesn’t bother me. If anything, I feel more at home.
With the song Vienna currently playing in the background, it has earned the official status as the main theme in the Soundtrack of my life.
"Slow down you crazy child, You're so ambitious for a juvenile,
Where's the fire, what's the hurry about?
You better cool it off before you burn it out
You got so much to do and only
So many hours in a day
But you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want
Or you can just get old"
So tonight I am in a Billy Joel-state of mind.
