Sent igår natt var det glitter och glamour på den röda mattan när stjärnorna tog sin årliga promenad över Hollywood Boulevard och in i Dolby Theatre. 

Själv såg hann jag få en snabb titt på några av skådespelerskornas klänningar innan jag somnade. För första gången på länge hade jag bestämt mig för att inte sitta uppe hela natten, oavsett hur lockad jag var och klockan 01 släckte jag lampan och aftonbladets sändning på mobilen. 

Jag hade planerat en tidig start på måndagen och med morgonens ärenden färdig sprungna har jag äntligen uppdaterat mig på några av gårdagens highlights. 

Ni vet, de obligatoriska som alla, även de som inte ens ser på galan kommer att prata om och referera till. Om det finns något jag hatar så är det att inte ha koll, så jag ser helt enkelt till att ha det. Sedan absolut älskar jag Oscarsgalan och att inte titta är inte ens ett alternativt. 

Så till gårdagens highlights. 

Jag gillade inledningsnumret av Justin Timberlake där han dansar sin väg in i salen följd av sina dansare Dirty Dancing style. Kan ju gissa att sång inte är Jimmy Kimmels starka sida. Programledarens välkomsttal där han refererade till Trump och pratade om exakt hur ”överskattad” den fantastiska Meryl Streep är innan han bad alla ställa sig upp och applådera. 

Det går inte att prata om gårdagens Oscars utan att nämna galans episka fail där filmen La la land utropades som Bästa film, och det kommer fram att de inte alls vunnit, men först efter att hela rollistan står på scen och tackar för priset. Förvirringen som sveper över salen var ganska uppfriskande. Det är ju verkligen något som inte får hända. Den riktiga vinnaren var filmen Moonlight och medan La la land lämnar scenen och Moonlight kliver på kommer förklaringen att Warren Betty som presenterat vinnarna hade fått fel kuvert och tja, resten är historia. 

Med det sagt var årets Oscarsgala var för mig mest fylld av anledningar till varför Emma Stone är en av vår tids mest fabulösa skådespelerska. Mer om det i nästa inlägg.

Late last night it was glitter and glamour on the red carpet as Hollywoods players made their yearly walk across Hollywood Boulevard and into Dolby Theatre. It was the night of the Academy Awards. 

Personally I just had a quick glimpse of a couple dresses before I fell asleep. The red carpet is one of my favorite parts! For the first time in a long time I had decided beforehand to not stay up all night, no matter how tempted I was, and at 1 am I turned off the lights. I had carefully planned an early start this Monday and now with this mornings errands checked off my to-do-list I finally took a moment to get updated on some of the highlights of last night. 

You know, those considered more or less obligatory to know about. That even those who have no interest in the Oscars know about because everyone will talk about them the next couple of months. If there is one thing I hate it is to not know about what has happened, so I simply make it my business to know. Furthermore I absolutely love the Oscars and not watching is not even an alternative.  

So, back to last night. 

The opening number always sets the tone for the rest of the night and I strongly liked the unusual opening number where Justin Timberlake danced his way into the Theatre Dirty Dancing style, accompanied by his dancers. 

I can imagine that part of the reason was that singing might not be Jimmy Kimmels strong suit and so an opening number like done by previous hosts Hugh Jackman or Billy Crystal was probably not an option. Don’t know.  

Then I liked Kimmels welcome speech where he of course referenced one of Trump’s many tweets and talked about exactly how ”overrated” the amazing Meryl Streep before asking the audience to give her a round of applauds. 

And you can’t really talk about last nights Oscars without mentioning the epic fail. You know, the one where La la land was announced as Best picture and as the cast are in the process of thanking for the award and only then, it turns out that they weren’t the winners. At this point I have to admit that the confusion that swept through the theatre was incredibly refreshing. I mean, this is something that isn’t supposed to happen, on the other hand, it’s not the end of the world. The real winner of Best picture was Moonlight and as La la land left the stage making room for Moonlight, Warren Betty who had presented the winner explained. He had been given the wrong envelope. I can only imagine the Academy’s event teams follow up meeting. 

”Sooo. The envelope for Best Picture… What the fuck?!” 

I love it!

With that said this years Academy Awards was for me mostly filled with reasons why Emma Stone is one of our times most fabulous actresses. But more about that next time.
