and so spring arrived
Be it corona or not, it seems as if spring finally did arrive. It is quarter to seven and the sun has just turned into a pink sky.
How much has changed in just a matter of days. From enjoying free movement and the as per usual (and always as weird) news featuring Trumpie, to having every household in Sweden (and Europe) deciding to fill every free square feet of their homes with toilet paper and rice.
Still, under current situation, it is impossible to not remember how incredibly privileged we are. Because regardless of how our daily routines and lives are affected by this crisis, most of us have, at the very least a home filled with comforts and plenty of food. And now, for inexplicable reasons, also a years supply of toilet paper. Everything to help us ride out the storm.
Since this crises I have personally introduced a couple of ground rules to help in the whole staying sane post-crisis.
This after following the news. Reading some of the oddest comments people ask a random journalist sitting on the other side of the screen and on a tabloids live-feed (”should I go to work during the crises?” - like seriously? You’re going to ask a random reporter to make that decision for you?). Then there were Trumpies comments who were getting far to: Trumpy.
Rules:
- Limit news-consumption to 1-2 hours a day (after reading how one of my favorite writers did the same it felt like I was on the right track)
- Goes without saying that keeping a critical mind is key when reading the news.
2. If you must, apply a strong filter when sifting through Corona-related comments from people on Instagram, Facebook and simply the internet. Chances are greater that they will irritate you than give you anything useful.
3. Stay inside and during outings keep distance from people. The very last thing I want is to catch the virus and infect someone else.
4. Daily exercise and meditation. Discipline.
5. Book at least 2-3 Zoom/wine/tea-dates with friends and have some fun.
Before I head off to heat up some of my evening tea and return to watching an episode of Brooklyn Nine Nine, I have to say that in this situation one has to be grateful for everything we have.
Also, I am very curious of the after play of covid-19. What will we, people, politicians and society learn when we come out into the light on the other side of the tunnel?
