Dinner dates à la 2020
Have you ever noticed how just as soon as you discover something, it is suddenly everywhere? Cause I don’t know about you, but in the pre-corona-time, I had never (never!) heard about zoom. But now it seems like it’s all people are talking about. Well, Zoom and toilet paper of course.
A guy from a corner of Ireland said that he stayed busy with whiskey/zoom meetings with friends and in a corner of Sweden I just said bye to dinner-date on zoom.
How did it work? I had thrown Italian-inspired ingredients together on a plate and as my dinner date is clearly the chef out of the two of us (she made her own mustard for gods sake! I mean...) she had cooked a stew. Five minutes past seven we sat down and met in the zoom room, said a quick cheers, tried the wine we both had poured and it was off. And I have to say that it was super cosy and a great way to hang out with friends now that physical meetings are to be avoided as much as possible.
Besides just turning on zoom every know and again and having a spontaneous chat, which is definitely recommended, I thought it even better to spice up the zoom-dates. And no, I am not thinking that role plays or leather are the way to go here. Not that I am judging if that is someones preference.
No, what I was thinking of was considerably less censor-friendly. Zoom with themes. So I am thinking that the upcoming digital dates will be more carefully planned and besides helping to fight the urge to go out with friends, perhaps it will help with the urge for travelling.
Themes that will be tried at further dates:
An Italian-night featuring redwine, mozzarella, olives and Pavarotti.
Parisian dejt = redwine in the afternoon.
Swedish summer night: Summerdress, cider and strawberries.
Pre-party with friends - partydressed and drinking games.
